Under Breast Cancer Chemotherapy
Question by sweetbutterfly09: What are the chances of someone actually surviving breast cancer?
My sister’s mother in law was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago, but she never told anyone of her condition till now. This whole time she’s been keeping it a secret from everyone so we wouldn;t worry about her. She’s undergone chemotherapy alone. I believe she’s a very strong woman. Today she basically told everyone and made us all cry. She made it seem like she’s dying, she was saying her good-bye’s.

If she has gone through her treatments and is able to talk about it with her family and friends, she is probably open enough to answer this question for you.
Each person is different and she is obviously different.
Currently, people are living longer after getting treatment for Breast Cancer.
Your friend might just be one of the more lucky people.

Question by Elicia C: Free clinic to examine a lump on my breast bone?
I have been laid off since December, so I don’t have any health insurance. A few days ago I found a lump the size of a quarter on my breast bone. it’s tender and its solid. I am extremely worried. Does anyone know of a clinic in the Las Vegas area that offers free exams?

I’m not in Vegas, but can you call the local chapter of the American Cancer Society? They might get you some help in a hurry. Please give it a try, that lump is worrisome!

I’m sorry you have to go through this so young.
She’s lucky to have you.
Level 2 chemotherapy has saved many a woman.
Chemo weeks are hard and you feel terrible but they usually work.
Theses are hard sites but maybe some infor will be helpful.

Under Breast Cancer Prognosis
Question by thecubn41980: Poor Metastatic Breast Cancer Prognosis?
My girlfriends mother was recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She had breast cancer when she was 39 and the cancer was in remission until now. She has lesions on her lungs and liver and an 8cm lesion which 80% of was removed from her brain. She also had 2 smaller lesions on her brain that the surgeon did not remove b/c he stated they would be better handled by radiation. She has since undergone 15 whole brain radiation therapy treatments but has not started chemo yet because the oncologist needed to wait until the radiation was done. I was reading over his notes and she has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and a poor prognosis. Does anyone know what a poor prognosis in medical terms actually means?
She has also begun to become very confused and asks the same questions over and over. she is not sure about what she is supposed to do on a daily basis. she knows what a shower is for, but she doesn’t understand why she took one yesterday. she knows that she gets cold when the air condition is on, but isn’t sure if it should be turned off or not. She can barely ambulate because she is so weak and sleeps about 5 or 6 hours during the day. Thanks.
I am fully aware she is going to die. it’s unfortunate but it’s something that we’re trying to be positive about. However I’m just curious if there are different prognosis levels and what they generally mean.
She had the tumor in her brain removed on March 13th and began radiation on or about April 15th.

Only a qualified oncologist can answer your question in its entirety and I suggest that that you ask him/her to elaborate. Just be there for your girlfriend – she may need some emotional support!….

Question by Doxx: Can a breast examine make your breasts sore?
I found a lump in my breast and had a breast examine by a doctor to get things checked out. The exam happened three days ago and my breasts have been sore ever since. Could this be related? Or is it probably just a coincidence and possibly related to something else?
